Membership in the Freemasons

The qualifications to become a freemason are distinct and clear. Every candidate must meet physical, moral and spiritual qualifications. The petitioner must be of at least 18 years of age and born a free man. He must be of good moral character and free of any previous criminal acts. The physical qualifications are necessary so that he must be free to make his own life decisions and be responsible for himself. The moral qualifications are for the viability of any brotherhood and the lofty ideals of our society.

In some countries, masonry is invitation only. In the United states it is not. Thus we say

To be a mason,
ask a mason.
